If I Can Dream

Yesterday was Martin Luther King Day and I truly wanted to post the following song lyrics then, but as usual life got in the way. I feel a little ashamed. I mean Valentine's Day is just around the corner and there are all these other lame "Hallmark" holidays like Grandparents' Day, Sweetest Day, etc., but on Martin Luther King Day - I did nothing. Oh, I thought about peace and what it would be like....I played the song....I even added it to my playlist on Sunday in anticipation, but still I did not "DO" anything to rememeber how important freedom, peace and the whole civil rights movement was .... is.... and must be to us all. So, in tribute to Martin Luther King and to all those who stood next to him, came before him in peaceful protest and all those who will fight and speak out in the future; when I listen to this song, I will think of you and what peace is all about. Thank you by the way!

IF I CAN DREAM...

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can’t my dream come true

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won’t that sun appear

We’re lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We’re trapped in a world
That’s troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there’s a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah

Thank you again, Dr. King, and all those who subscribe to "peace and understanding".
